Nationally recognized mathematics leaders advised and/or collaborated with MEC over the years on the development of MEC’s Community Engagement Model, Mathematics Content Courses, Workshops, and Institutes, and the series Supporting School Mathematics – a workshop resource for educators working with parents and community members. MEC leaders and instructors contribute to and learn with national leaders, teachers and administrators working across the country to improve mathematics teaching and learning in grades K-12. MEC’s current and past involvement with multiple nationwide mathematics improvement initiatives informs and enriches the work in partner communities. MEC has worked with the National Academies to identify characteristics of challenging courses and curricula. Leading researchers have attended and/or visited MEC courses.
