Numbers Matter – Host Numerical Reasoning Workshops

“I find that MEC approaches support students as they find several ways to solve problems and share with classmates. They are learning from each other. Not only are the lower students learning from the higher, but high students are also learning from students previously less successful with math.”  - 5th Grade Teacher

“Learning 21st Century mathematics in a MEC classroom setting has inspired me to recognized and appreciate mathematics relationships in the real world, ask “why” and “how” questions and have confidence in my own ability to solve problems. I have greater appreciation for the power and beauty of mathematics.”  - Elementary Teacher

“MEC courses have made me excited about mathematics and sharing strategies and methods with my students. Students’ understanding of the fifth grade curriculum is rapidly increasing!”  - 5th Grade Teacher

Teacher Mathematics Leadership

MEC Teacher Mathematics Leadership development is for local cadres of current and future mathematics leaders. These teachers, math coaches and others, comprise the Local Math Support Teams (MSTs), and are immersed in summer mathematics content courses and six days of leadership follow-up each school year. 9They serve as leaders and mentors within their schools and communities during and beyond the scope of MEC support. MSTs are also prepared to lead community Math Nights, Numerical Reasoning workshops and other sessions to facilitate and sustain continuous learning and access to high-quality mathematics for every student.
