If you have submitted a letter of commitment or have made other arrangements with MEC, WELCOME TO OUR OFFICIAL REGISTRATION PROCESS! We are very excited to collaborate with your team over the next three years!

Each member of your team will be considered a Number Talk Support Team leader (NTST) and it is most desirable that each NTST has one or two teachers to collaborate with over the course of the project. This collaboration will be important from the very beginning of the project as they all work to transform their own classroom practice. Instructional coaches and other NTSTs who don’t have their own classrooms will need to have a classroom where they work on a regular basis to enact Number Talks.

An important element of this design is the intent that these collaborating teachers attend the 2-day Number Talk Institute portion of the academy during the summer alongside the NTSTs. Each year of the project, this collaboration will deepen and grow. (Eventually, no sooner than Year Two of the project, NTSTs will be ready to provide PD to support these and other classroom teachers and administrators.)

For this reason, along with some basic information for each NTST, you will be asked to identify how many collaborating teachers you anticipate will be attending the Number Talk Institute portion of the academy along with each NTST. There will be a separate registration process for these non-NTST teachers.

    • To support the project NTST(s) to work with teachers in their schools/districts/regions, especially in years Two and Three of the project.
    • To pay MEC $375 per NTST per year (for three years).
    • To pay for travel and stipends (if needed) for each NTST for 4 days of professional development each summer, and stipends for four 2-hour webinars each school year.
    • To support non-NTST teachers who will collaborate with the NTST(s) as they all work to implement Number Talks in their classrooms throughout the 3-year span of the project.
    • To support these collaborating teachers, to the extent possible, to attend the 2-day Number Talk Institutes. They will be mentored by NTSTs who will offer a series 2-hour Number Talks workshops in Years two and three. The cost to attend of an institute for a non-NTST teacher is anticipated to be between $250 and $300.
